do you remember february 24th, 1983?  sure there was the elite 8 team, aka "cinderella titans", "cal state who?" and "we believe!" team of 1978, but february 24th, 1983 remains a special place in the heart for a lot of titan fans. when the unbeaten and #1 ranked team in the country invaded your house, the intensity is serious. there was never a doubt that the titans would not win that game, it was played out of formality.
once again no one believed in us, but ourselves. as stu nahan reported on nbc's 11 oclock news: "biggest sports story happens in fullerton tonite, where the titans of cal state fullerton, 18-5, 9-3 in conference going in, upset previously unbeaten top-ranked unlv. let's go to the hightlights..." superfan bill harvey responded to ed arnold's interview at el paso cantina: "... if you are looking for a school, this is the place to go, I am telling you, cal state fullerton!" |
